Chair of Local Land Services
Tim de Mestre commenced as Chair of Local Land Services in February 2016.
Tim has a history in both the public and private sectors, having worked in various roles in agriculture, from farming and contracting to processing and marketing.
Tim has developed a strong governance focus in senior roles with organisations including Macquarie Bank (Paraway Pastoral), Tywnam, Hassall & Associates, the Swire Group (Clyde) and Cargill.
Over a period of five years, Tim has built the capacity of people in Australian Government and multilaterally funded projects in South East Asia, generally working on the improvement of institutional business strategies and their execution. He is currently a member of USAID’s Feed the Future Partnering for Innovation Commercialisation Review Committee.
Tim has also operated his family farming business near Bungendore in the state’s South East region. As a ratepayer himself he understands the Local Land Services customer proposition and perspective in times of challenged profitability and sustainable land management focus.
