Mice are classed as a nuisance animal in NSW. While there are no obligations for landholders to control mice, Local Land Services can provide advice and assistance on monitoring and control if required. It is important that landholders monitor mice populations and take appropriate measures before they cause irreversible damage to crops, machinery and other infrastructure.
Local Land Services staff can assist landholders with advice on appropriate monitoring and control measures for their situation, and prepare bait for use around farm infrastructure and crop perimeters if certain conditions are met. As all rodenticides are registered pesticides, you must have a current chemical user's card. The training is mandatory under the Pesticides Act 1999 and the Pesticides Regulation 2009.
