2015 NSW Landcare Award Winner!

Rebecca Mooy and Vanessa Keyzer from Greater Sydney Local Land Services and Helena Dewis, Pittwater Council's Bushcare Officer gratefully accepted the NSW Landcare Award on behalf of Floating Landcare's volunteers and project partners at the NSW Landcare Conference, in Orange.
Floating Landcare was awarded for its Partnerships with Landcare at the Breakfast of Champions on Wednesday 2nd September, 2015.
This Award represents a fantastic effort by all the project partners that have been working together on theGreater Sydney Local Land Services coordinated Floating Landcare program since 2012.  Program coordinator, Rebecca Mooy commented that "together the project partners have created a successful environmental volunteer engagement model.  It's an adventurous boat access only Landcare program on the Hawkesbury Estuary, Pittwater and most recently the Central Coast.  It provides an opportunity for a range of volunteers, those with experience in bush regen to those giving it a go for the first time."
With base funding from the NSW Environmental Trust, the Floating Landcare Program has had 280 individual volunteers participate in the 45 Floating Landcare activities on offer during the past three years.  The generous time of the volunteers to date is the equivalent of half a million dollars in bush regeneration effort across the 17 estuary locations.
"Our volunteer participants have come from over 30 different Landcare / bushcare groups and 7 corporate groups.  Without the wonderful participation from the volunteers and the modest income stream now being generated from our corporate participants we would not have the successful program our project partners and volunteers currently enjoy and will continue to be involved in during 2016." said Rebecca.
