Community groups can apply now for Landcare funding

Today, Federal MP's across Sydney announced that the next round of National Landcare Programme Funding is now open, with community groups and Landcare groups encouraged to apply for grants soon. This funding is part of the Australian Government's National Landcare Programme and is managed locally by Greater Sydney Local Land Services.

Landcare Grants help care for the region's natural resources and support sustainable agriculture. $200,000 will be made available for individual grants between $5,000 and $30,000. These grants will fund projects that make a real difference to local environmental areas and productive lands.

General Manager for Greater Sydney Local Land Services Mr David Hogan said "we have achieved outstanding results working with the community to improve the natural and agricultural assets of our region. Our community groups and local agricultural industry see the opportunities to improve profitability and sustainability whilst improving environmental outcomes for our native flora and fauna".

Community groups can seek funding through this program via the Greater Sydney Local Land Services Website

Greater Sydney Local Land Services will assist groups that have submitted an expression of interest to develop the best project possible for the final assessment process. Applications open on 20th October 2015 and close on the 13th November 2015, with successful projects to be announced on December 15th.

Greater Sydney Local Land Services is a regional NSW government organisation that supports farmers to improve management and profitability, works with community to improve their local environment, manages pest species, reduces the risk from new diseases of plants and animals and helps in the emergency management of natural disasters.
